MARAN, 15 Mei (Bernama) — Tiada majikan yang dikecualikan daripada membayar gaji minimum kepada pekerja mereka setelah pelaksanaan Perintah Gaji Minimum 2016 (PGM 2016) berkuat kuasa 1 Julai nanti.

Timbalan Menteri Sumber Manusia Datuk Seri Ismail Abd Muttalib berkata bagi tujuan itu kerajaan sudah melaksanakan beberapa siri penerangan seperti bengkel untuk memberi penjelasan terperinci mengenai perkara itu kepada majikan dan pekerja.

“Penerangan kepada pihak terbabit di Sabah dan Sarawak sudah pun selesai minggu lalu, manakala di Semenanjung usaha penerangan sedang berjalan dan dijangka tamat pada pertengahan bulan depan,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas menutup Pesta Air Chenor 2016 di Jeti Chenor Lama di sini, hari ini.

Ismail berkata sehubungan itu diharapkan sebanyak 700,000 majikan dan syarikat yang berdaftar dengan kementeriannya dapat melaksanakan bayaran gaji minimum RM1,000 bagi Semenanjung dan RM920 di Sabah dan Sarawak.

“Kegagalan majikan melaksanakan bayaran gaji minimum kepada para pekerja boleh menyebabkan mereka dikenakan tindakan tegas,” katanya.

Beliau berkata pelaksanaan perintah gaji minimum itu disemak setiap dua tahun sekali oleh Jawatankuasa Penyelarasan Gaji Negara terdiri daripada majikan, pekerja, wakil bank dunia dan kementerian.
